A great question on slow carb – diet or balanced eating plan?

I got a great question today, and having written the answer, with my brain still ticking, I thought ‘that deserves a post’. So here it is.

@Komosky - i see a lot of these deserts are ‘slow carb’ it’s not really a diet but a more balanced way of eating eh? almost every diet tries to eliminate carbs completely, whats ur thought?

My thoughts (edited since original reply):
Good observation. The Four Hour Body slow carb regime is really a sustainable alternative to regular western diets, I think. I have really been trying to avoid the term ‘diet’ for that exact reason, I prefer ‘regime’. Continue reading

The Wicked Wednesdays

Is anyone else finding Wednesday's to be the day of cravings, mood swings, and severe want to punch this diet in the head?? I am. Last week, I wondered if it was just a random day of rage towards the food I was eating, but the fact that today has resulted in the exact same (if not worse) reaction, I'm wondering if "hump day" should come back into my vocabulary. Continue reading

A New Outlook on Energy

Luke and I probably aren't the only ones dealing with a whole new idea of energy! I am astounded by how long I can last now that I'm eating such incredibly fueling food. Anyone new on this diet needs to read some of the "waivers" that come with this energy, though. Continue reading

First week in review

Just one week. What a change a simple 7 days can make.

Hard to believe its a week, as it has zipped by. To say that I’m excited about tomorrow’s ‘crazy food’ day would be an understatement. In fact, it’s likely that I will dream about it tonight.. or not sleep. But more just for the variety, definitely not because I’ve been feeling hungry – that is one great thing I’ll say about this regime – I’m not left hungry often. Today was an exception because I made smaller than usual slow carb meals, and ate quicker than usual, which seems to have an impact. I filled the gap with a stick (yes one) of celery with almond butter. Did the trick perfectly.

It’s been a good week, of course with its ups and downs. Adjusting to the regular eating has actually been more like un-adjusting to random eating. Eating every 4 hours couldn’t be simpler. I love the schedule, it takes a lot of brain work out of it for me. Continue reading

Starting The Four Hour Body regime

Gibsons, BC

As the New Year tolls around the world, and I send off messages to friends in other timezones, I have this building feeling about 2011 and just how bursting with potential it is. I haven’t felt this way every New Year’s Day, and perhaps I could attribute it to yesterday’s skiing in heaven-on-earth conditions, or it could be due to the last 8 days of food deprivation and headaches, and my reading some of The Four Hour Body.
