How do you go off slow carb??

This post is based on a very simple question. One that I get asked quite often, and one that came to me when I first read the book. If slow carb works so well, then what do you do when you reach your goal? I've taken a close look at this, because it's not at all clear, when you get started, where it's all heading. That's something I'd like to help you with. Continue reading

Is bodyfat the problem, or a symptom?

I'm sure that your body's shape and size is very important to you. It is to me too. And its not just about looking good, because bodyfat is one of those things that makes you look - and feel - like you're less healthy than you could be. So, you, me and everyone else tries things to reduce bodyfat. But, what if that means you are focusing on the symptom, not the cause? Sounds like a recipe for endless frustration. So what if excess bodyfat is actually a symptom? Continue reading

Why we get fat – finally understanding the process

If you have ever heard someone saying fat loss or fat gain is 'simple thermodynamics - calories in, calories out', or if you have ever heard or read the only way to lose fat is to enter a diet that has a calorie deficit (less calories in than going 'out') then this is critical information you cannot afford to miss. Everyone should be taught this information in school. This couldn't have come soon enough. It's the missing piece that I had always been looking for, but never found easily. Completing a recent cross-country drive gave me a chance to listen, uninterrupted, to an excellent audio book on the topic, and I have found it revolutionary. Continue reading

Mistakes in nutrition – preventing more lost gains

Not content with the fat gains from Occam's Protocol, I went on a mission to find a better nutritional option. Pairing the 'Forgotten Third Workout' program with slow carb + protein shakes and peanut butter, I was sure that I was covering my bases, and was on my way to achieving the results I wanted. A few hurdles later, I have a better view of how this nutritional decision affected my progress. Continue reading

The Last Mile: First Impressions and Meal Diary

It's been almost two weeks that I've been following the 3 hour meal schedule of the last mile. Eating my way through piles of nuts, endless chicken breasts and too much spinach to count. How's it been so far? What's the progress like? Found out from the midst of this latest experiment I've undertaken. Continue reading

Can slow carb get you below 10% bodyfat?

This is a controversial question, for a few reasons. But that's not going to stop me writing this article. I am taking a very hard look at the slow carb diet, for one simple reason: I have a goal. Much like anyone else's goals, it has been set, and I am working to achieve it. But that doesn't stop any of us considering that there might be a better way than what we are currently doing. So, in this article, I will look at the slow carb diet with a more focussed goals than simply 'fat loss', and decide if slow carb is the right option if your aim is to get into muscle-defining bodyfat percentages.
